When I was young I couldn’t stop reading. One day I stapled bits of paper together and made my very own blank book. My plan was - (drum roll please) - to write my own mystery novel. I titled the story The Mystery of the Missing Banana and Stolen Diamond. Only problem was, I wrote most of it secretly in science class when I should have been listening to the teacher. You can probably guess how bad my grades were in science that year, but it sure beat dissecting poor little dead frogs!

Fast forward many years and I started to dream about a little girl called Molly. She was invited to a palace and sent on an important mission. In 2019 ‘Molly’s Big Decision’ was complete and published in 2020.

As a grown-up I still LOVE reading. In fact it is my #1 way to relax. I enjoy reading action novels that have a brave hero - much braver than I could ever be!

When I’m not reading you’ll find me baking, designing on my computer or chatting with a friend over a good cup of coffee. I live on the East Coast of Australia, with my husband and childhood sweetheart, Steve. I have two adult sons, a beautiful granddaughter and two cute grandsons.

Molly discovers magic tokens inside the golden pouch

The king entrusts her with a secret mission.

IT’S NOT ABOUT THE 10 – ITS ABOUT THE 100

Molly’s Big Decision was a tale that took me over 15 years to tell. Yes I know that’s a long time!

One of the main themes in the book, the idea of giving away the king’s magic tokens came to me in a few dreams - in that weird space of time between being fully asleep and wide awake. Over the course of a few days I believe God gave me the beginnings of a story. And at that time in my life it had spiritual meaning for me personally.

I had grown up in a Christian family and was taught to tithe (even 10% of my pocket money, would you believe?). I remember asking my mum if she’d give me $1.10 each week instead of $1 – so I’d still have a dollar left after tithing. (Yeh I know now as an adult 10% would’ve been 11 cents, but I didn’t do the math as a kid.) My mum laughed and said ‘It doesn’t work like that!’

Fast forward to me as a wife, mum and manager of the household finances. I’m still tithing. But what God was trying to reveal to me in those dreams was that He is the God who owns the 100%. He entrusts me with the 100% every day to give it away on his behalf. He provides for all my needs. It’s never my money, my time, my talents or my resources. They all belong to him and are to be used for his glory.

Just a little detail you may miss in Molly’s Big Decision. She is given 60 tokens by the king. Six of them are to be delivered to the village church family. You do the math!
